interested people showed. In early May, Garnet Orr and Albert Armstrong attended
a league meeting in Kemptville at which time Shawville paid their franchise
bond and was voted into the Upper Ottawa Valley Junior "B" Hockey
League. Carl Foley who was President of the league was very instrumental in
Shawville being accepted.
During their first year, there were some twenty-five shareholders committed
to the financial support. Sweaters and socks were purchased by Garnet Orr and
Ray "Habba" Young and gloves by Keon's Store in Quyon.
Art MacIntyre was elected Manager, head coach was Tom Fraser and the assistant
coach was Todd Hearty.
Jennifer Hayes won a logo contest with her Indian symbol.
Mayor Allen Black dropped the puck at the first home game and the team was on
its way...
Today the club is community owned and local businesses and many loyal fans have
ensured that Junior "B" hockey remains in the Pontiac.
